He also announced that he has inked a deal with Interscope Records for his Dreamville label. The project comes with 11 tracks from J.Cole, Bas, Omen, KQuik and Treasure Davis.

Macklemore Almost Cut From Rap Category Of Grammys

Though Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are attending the Grammys with seven nominations, the road wasn’t easy,

According to the Associated Press, members of the Recording Academy felt that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis shouldn’t qualify in the genre due to their mainstream success on mainstream radio and pop music appeal. The committee believed that the rap category was fit for artists with a more urban landscape. However, when this discussion was opened to the general committee, the final decision was made that Macklemore &; Ryan Lewis would be best suited to compete in the rap categories.

“It’s not that they don’t think he’s a rapper,” the person said of the rap committee’s decision. “It’s just that when you’re trying to protect categories and someone has become popular, it should be judged as much. … Where does their music exist? Who are their fans?”
